KTP-Laser in lacrimal surgery

K.-H. Emmerich, R. Ungerechts, H.-W. Meyer-RĂĽssenberg*

Background: Endoscopic procedures have brought a lot of new noninvasive procedures in lacrimal surgery. Therefore the possible use of a KTP-Laser should be investigated.

Method: KTP-Laser application in external DCR and with an endocanalicular endoscope are demonstrated.

Results: With a KTP-Laser, a bone hole of high precision and excellent preparation of the mucosal flop can be created. A transcanaliculär DCR is possible.

Conclusions: A very precise preparation of bone holes is possible by the powerful KTP-Laser. Connected to an endoscope, the transcanaliculer DCR seems to be possible. By the high energy of the laser with 10.0W, an enforced scar reaction is to be expected.
