The transscleral cyclophotocoagulation with diode lasers has been applied for the treatment of glaucoma over the past years.
The controlled cyclophotocoagulation (=CoCo) is a new way because the coagulation effects are controlled by a detector which stops the laser. Thus side effects of coagulation are avoided.
The video presents the principle of the so called "controlled cyclophotocoagulation", the treatment and the one-year-results.
One year after treatment 30% of the patients with open angle glaucoma still do not need any glaucoma medication. IOP was about 24% less than before treatment.
