Photocoagulation of capillary hemangioma of the retina A case report
G. Lindemann, R. Ungerechts, K.-H. Emmerich
A 29 year old patient was acutly presented in our clinic due to progressive deterioration of his vision in his left eye. Visual acuity was reduced to 20/50. On funduscopy we could diagnose a red prominent tumor in the temporal equatorial region which was two disc diameters in size. In addition we found a macular pucker with hard exudates.
On fluorescein angiography the typical findings of a capillary hemangioma with very short arteriovenous circulation time could be seen. In addition with extensive vascular fluorescence.
Because of the deterioration of vision and due limited prognosis we decided to perform photocoagulation in several sessions. Regression of the tumor after therapy with clinical, angiographic and ultrasonic investigations is demonstrated.
