eye injury with a butchers hook. The globe was ruptured at the limbus
from 6 to 12 o'clock extending from 12 radial behind the superior rectus
muscle. There was a complete aniridia, partial zonuloysis and vitreous
loss. One year after successful primary repair including vitrectomy the
patient developped a mature cataract. The video describes the steps of
cataract surgery in this complicating situation, including use of the
soft shell technique, capsular tension ring and implantation of an aniridia
IOL. After surgery the patient achieved a visual acuity of 0.6. |
