| Persistent iritis 6 months after cataract surgery Fuchs H. A., Becker K. A., Auffarth G. U. Univ.-Augenklinik Heidelberg, INF 400, 69120 Heidelberg Case report: A 81-years-old patient complaint about pain and decreased
vision on the right eye. Six months ago she underwent uneventful cataract
surgery. She was treated for iritis with local steroids without any improvement
over two months. Another ophthalmologist found at 7o'clock in the chamber
angle a tumor and referred her for further diagnosis and treatmen. Ultrasound
biomecroscopy showed a foreign body material in the chamber angle, which
could be seperated clearly from the surrounding uveal structures. There
was 2+ cell and tyndall reaction in the anterior chamber, VA was 0.63p.
The foreign body could be uneventfully removed by anterior chamber irrigation
and aspiration. It showed to be a nucleus fragment, which had not been
resolved 6 months after cataract surgery. One week after removal of the
nucleus fragment there was virtually no inflammatory reaction in the AC
anymore and VA did increase to 0.8-1.0p. |
