Intracanalicular Trabeculostomy

Technical development of a new ab-externo technique for glaucoma trabecular
surgery using the Er:YAG-laser radiation (2.9 µm). A quartz fiber
(core diameter: 100 µm) was shielded by a pre-formed metal canula
(diameter: 280 µm) similar to a trabeculotom. A 45°-mirror enabled
the laser radiation to exit the canula perpendicular to the fiber axis
into the anterior chamber creating multiple draining canals. The complete
technical development as well as morphological and histological ablation
characteristics will be demonstrated in an agar-modell and enucleated
human eyes. Furthermore the surgical situation inclusive gonioscopy will
be intensively explained.
