Preliminary results of the Toric Implantable Contactlens

Neuhann T. H., Okrafka K. P.

Augenklinik am Marienplatz, München

Purpose: To evaluate short-term-results with this new phakic refraktive posterior chamber lens which is now able to correct any kind of regular corneal astigmatism.
Method: 5 eyes of 3 patients received due to high refractive errors combined with astigmatism a toric Implantable contact lens.
Results: In all eyes BSCVA postop was same or better than preop. Also in all eyes UCVA postop was significantly better than preop. 95% were UCVA within the desired range while one eye had plus 0.5 diopter out of range. In all eyes a distance between the two lenses can be observed and no ICL changed its position postoperatively.
Conclusion: In the short-term the toric Implantable contactlens demonstrates excellent results concerning visual acuity, stabile refraction and especially position, even in eyes with induced astigmatism after corneal graft surgery.
