Amnioplasty on Patients with Ulcus Mooren

Summary: A 72-year-old patient with ulcus Mooren (both eyes, for
the last three years) presented with spontaneous corneal perforation on
the left eye. By the multilayer amnioplasty we could reach the restitution
of the integrity of the globe and a rapid calming of the inflammation.
Based on this good experience, we performed an amnioplasty on a 33- year-old
patient with monolateral ulcus Mooren (12 month anamnesy). During the
six month postoperative period, both eyes were free of inflammation, visual
acuity recovered in both cases from finger counting to 0.1.
