Presentation of the clinical study "The effect of glucocorticoids and diclofenac/indomethacin for the anterior chamber inflammation response after phacoemulsification cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation"

In July 2000 we started with the clinical study "The effect of glucocorticoids
and diclofenac/indomethacin for the anterior chamber inflammation response
after phacoemulsification cataract-surgery with intraocular lens implantation".
We recruit patients from the region of rostock with indication for cataractsurgery,
which dont have any difficult eye- or general disease with an influence
of the aqueous humor-barrier or the general cure. The aim of this study
is the evaluation of the efficiency and the optimation for use of local
topical antiphlogistics with different concentrations and present forms.
As our main aim we definit the regression of the anterior chamber inflammation,
which we measure using Kowa FM 500 laser-flare-meter, to baseline before
operation. Second criterias are the regression of the corneal swelling
to baseline, elevation of intraocular tension, parameter of individual
compatibility and the concentration of active agent in aqueous humor.
