Wavefrontanalysis with and without Refractive Surgery

Purpose: To investigate aberrations of the eye under different
conditions.
Methods: A Shack-Hartmann Wavefront Analyser was used to investigate
the effects of pupil-size, PRK and LASIK-Cuts on the aberration.
Results: Pupil-size is very important. PRK creates aberrations.
The LASIKCut itself creates aberrations with a very individual effect.
Conclusion: The use of aberrometer guided Excimer-Laser surgery
is difficult in LASIK. It is important to select the constant and to exclude
inconstant aberrations with the intention to minimize undesired effects
in Excimer Laser surgery.
