Results of the Foldable Toric Silicone Lens MS 6116 for Astigmatism Correction in Myopic and Hyperopic Astigmatism

The MS 6116 (HumanOptics Germany) is a foldable silicone lens designed with Z-Haptics for rotational stability in the capsular bag. We present our Data with this lens retrospectively. Statistical evaluation will be presented by multivariate analysis. In the period from 02/01 to 03/02 the MS 6116 have been implanted in 85 patient eyes, 8 eyes with astigmatism relevante disease (KPL, Keratokonus) have been excluded. 48 out of 77 eyes were examined on the 1. postop day, 33 eyes in average after 78 days. The sphaeric power ranged between -9,0 dpt and +33,0 dpt. The cylinder varied from +2,0 dpt to +9,0 dpt. The praeoperative astigmatism was 3.11 dpt in mean and was reduced to 0,68 dpt postop. The accurate statistic evaluation will be visualized with double angle plots and statistical evaluation performed with mulitvariater analysis. The visual acuity of 33 examined eyes was praeoperative 0,3 (0,08 - 0,8). Postoperatively it raised to 0,63 (0,3 - 1,0). On the 1. day post-op the position of the lens differed by 6,16° (0° - 25°) to the desired axis. The examination after 77 days shows that the IOL-position changed 1,76° (0° - 5°). The MS 6116 with the Z-Hapticdesign is a rotational stable lens to correct astigmatism. The main difficulty is the exact positioning during implantation.
