Coloured Iris Prosthesis Lens in Different Indications

Purpose: This paper presents the use of coloured iris diaphragma lens in the treatment of: 1. traumatic cataract with iris coloboma 2. secondary intraocular lens implantation in case of unilateral aphakia and partial loss of the iris structure 3. secondary IOL implantation after vitreoretinal surgery 4. posttraumatic aniridia/ iris coloboma combined with vitreoretinal disease.
Material and methods: Material contains 10 cases with different loss of the iris structure. In 9 cases vitreoretinal surgery was performed, either before or simultaneously with IOL implantation. In one case ECCE was performed.
Results: Postopreative results both functional and cosmetic were satisfactory.
Conclusions: Coloured iris diaphragma lens can be succesfully used in the treatment of selected cases of iris coloboma. This lens can be used in combined procedures of IOL implantation and vitreoretinal disease. The presented method gives good functional and cosmetic results.
