First Clinical and Laboratory Results of the Humanoptics 1CU Accommodative IOL

Background: A new development in intraocular lens designs are potential accommodative IOLs.
Methods: We evaluated the new Humanoptics 1CU accommodative IOL in 6 eyes of 5 patients aged 51 to 83 years. Apart from functional results, anterior chamber depth changes and ultrasound biomicroscopy results were analysed.
Results: At the 6 months follow up uncorrected near acuity was between 0.2 to 0.6 and uncorrected distance acuity ranged between 0.6 to 1.0. Die Miyake-Apple Technique allowed to sho specific IOL movement üpattern in the autopsy eye setting.
Conclusions: The 1CU Humanoptics accommodative IOL showed promising functional results and pseudoaccommodative behaviour.
