Overview of Current Microceratomes for LASIK, their Problems and Solutions

The correction of refractive errors using laser-in-situ-keratomileusis (LASIK) has been performed increasingly during the last years. The current microkeratomes can be divided in machines producing a superior, nasal and a freely locatable hinge. In this talk different microkeratomes are introduced and experiences with the various systems are reported. Advantages and disadvantages of the various systems and hinge positions as well as an overview of potential complications are provided.
