We evaluated the new accommodative 1CU IOL from Humanoptics Inc. Six IOLs were implanted in 5 patients. Uncorrected near acuity ranged from 0.2 to 0.6, uncorrected distance acuity from 0.3 to 1.0 during the first 6 months follow up. Laserinterferenz biometry measurements (IOL-Master) showed anterior chamber depths changes after application of Pilocarpin eyedrops of 0.4 to 1.2mm. Ultrasound biomicroscopy measurments revealed smaller IOL-forward-movement. Wave front analysis demonstrated potential dynamic accommodation amplitudes up to 1 diopter. Miyake/Apple-Video-Technik gives insight into the IOL movement in a autopsy eye set up. This new lens has some promising potential, at least at the short term follow up. However, methods to evaluate such a lens are limitid in its validity.
