Purpose: To present the additional method for better visualisation of pathological structures during vitrectomy. Method: During standard free port pars plana vitrectomy trypan blue staining was injected in front of the retina after vitreous removal. After 1 minute the staining was removed. Results: The presented method improved the visualisation of the epiretinal membrane an the ILM. In some cases this allowed to identify remnants of the vitreous which persisted despite careful vitrectomy. Conclusions: The presented method allows to perform a more complete surgery of the PVR retinal detachment.
