Purpose: To evaluate the influence of optic disc size on glaucomatous optic disc changes. Method: The study included 200 healthy persons, 47 patients with ocular hypertension and normal visual fields and 226 with POAG and different type of visual field defects. The optic disc parameters (stereometric and volumetric) were measured using a computerized imaging system- HRT II. Results: The optic disc size were significantly greater in healthy persons and in ocular hypertension patients without visual field defects than in patients with POAG. Conclusions: This study demonstrated the role of optic disc size as a risk factor in POAG and as a very important parameter for evaluating volumetric and stereometric optic disc parameters.
