Abstract
The Pattern of Recurrence of Conjunctival Epithelial Neoplasia Schilgen G.1, Reinhard T.2, Engelhardt S.1, Sundmacher R.1
Purpose: Dysplastic and clearly malignant tumors (carcinoma in situ and invasive carcinoma) of the conjunctiva and the limbus are frequently characterized by untypical clinical presentation, diffuse boundary and by a markedly high rate of recurrence after simple surgical excision. Therefore surgical excision is either combined with various cytostatic treatments or cytostatic treatments are applied several times to control the malignant process. This widespread used therapeutic approach makes it difficult to get a reliable estimation of the efficiency of the individual procedures. |
