Purpose: An intraocular pressure (IOP)-independent estimation of filtering blebs is necessary to recognize excessive wound healing after filtering glaucoma surgery. The comparison of filtering bleb development in clinical trials requires a quantitative assessment. Method: We prospectively evaluated filtering bleb configuration of 30 patients that underwent clear cornea phacoemulsification after previous successful filtering glaucoma surgery. Morphological landmarks like vascularization, cork screw vessels, microcysts, bleb elevation and encapsulation were assessed with level 0 to 3. The total score is a summation of all parameters for each filtering bleb (0-20, 20=optimum). Mean IOP and filtering bleb morphology were determined before surgery, 3 days, 3 month and 12 month after cataract surgery. Results: Mean IOP increased after phacoemulsification by about 2 mmHg (preoperatively 14,3 ±3,7mmHg, one year post-op 16,3 Zurück | Back
