Abstract
Early or Late Infantile Strabismus Surgery Study. A non-randomised, prospective, multi-centre clinical trial Early vs. Late Infantile Strabismus Surgery Study-Group
Purpose: The ELISSS is a European group of strabismologists and orthoptists that investigated whether early or late surgery is preferable in infantile strabismus in a prospective, multi-centre trial. Infants age 6 - 18 months received a standardized entry examination and were operated either before age 24 months or between age 32 - 60 months. All children were evaluated at age 6. The two groups were compared regarding degree of binocular vision, angle of strabismus and relative visual acuity of the worse eye. |
