Abstract
Characterisation of L-type Ca2+ channels in Human Trabecular Meshwork Cells and the effect of Endothelin-1 Steinhausen K.1, Strauß O.1, Wiederholt M.2
Purpose: The trabecular meshwork (TM) influences aqueous humor outflow resistance and thus the level of IOP. L-type Ca2+ channels have been shown to influence [Ca2+]i and the contractility of the TM. Application of Endothelin-1 (ET-1) activates TM contractility and leads to an elevation of [Ca2+]i. Thus, we examined possible effects of endothelin on L-type Ca2+ currents of human trabecular meshwork cells (HTM) to understand the signal transduction pathway of ET-1. |
