The Glaucoma in the Bantu Population an Epidemiologic Study

Purpose: The project VISION 2020 was founded by CBM and other NGOs to reduce the number of blind people until the year 2020 to 50%. In the region central-Africa the glaucoma is the third frequent cause of avoidable blindness. Because of missing epidemiologic data this disease could not be involved in the project VISION 2020.
Method: Altogether we did an ophthalmologic examination and a quantitative analyse with the Heidelberg-Retina-Tomograph II of 1027 people (randomised group) (471 male, 556 female, middle age 44,4±13 years) in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo).
Results: We examined 1990 (996 right, 994 left) eyes. Among the eyes with high intraocular pressure (IOP>25mmHg) the middle Excavation (c/d=0,48Zurück | Back
