Purpose: In patients with idiopathic macular hole it is crucial to monitor the accompanying eye with respect to the possibility of hole occurrence and the risk of progression visual acuity of leading eye.The aim of this study is to: 1. determine the risk factors of macular hole forming in the fellow eye, 2. establish the algorytm of diagnostic management the kind of examination and the frequency of control visits. Method: 55 patients (43 female and 12 male) aged 58 to 79 years were included in this study. The normal full ophthalmological check up was carried out as well as USG investigation B-mode scan, retinal thickness measurement with RTA device (retinal thickness analyzer TALIA Technology Ltd) and the electrophysiological examination (the standard flash ERG with Toennies Multiliner Vision equipment and pattern VEP) in all patients. Examinations were performed 6 weeks and 3 months after first visit and finally compared. Results: Ultrasound findings showed the elevation in macular area and incompletely detachment of the posterior vitreous limiting membrane. In 2 patients pseudooperculum and in 1 case the real operculum of the hole were detected.
