Purpose: To evaluate the PerfectCapsule sealing device in a clinical set uo. Method: PerfectCapsuleÔ is a foldable silicone sealing device with overall diameter of 7mm, inner diameter of 5mm. It is designed to temporarily seal a capsulorhexis of less than 5mm. It enables selective and specific irrigation of the internal capsular bag. This device was placed on the capsulorhexis rim in 10 patients after phacoemulsification in topical anaesthesia. The capsular bag was irrigated with vision blue stain. Results: In all patients the device could be safely applied to the capsule without damage. The irrigation with vision blue did not reveal any leakage. Conclusions: This new device offers the possibility to selectively expose the lens epithelial cells to PCOpreventing substances, without endangering other ocular tissues.
