Efficacy of Alpha-2b Interferon in Combination with Xenon Photocoagulation (PC) and Brachytherapy (BT) in Patients with Uveal Melanoma (UM)

Purpose: It is important to devise new methods of organ-saving treatment of UM not only in order to save the eye but also to improve life prognosis of patients. Purpose of the work was to study therapeutic efficacy of alpha-2b-interferon (Laferon) in combination with xenon PC as well as PC and BT (Sr 90) in patients with UM.
Method: 72 patients with UM were analyzed (follow-up was 5 years). 23 patients had interferon-therapy (IFT) in combination with xenon PC (tumour prominence was 4.0±0.2 mm) and 49 PC with BT (prominence was 6.9±0.3 mm). Total dose of BT = 2295±240 Gr. Comparison was made with patients (120) with the same size of tumour. The tota
